Daily Neruda - Ode to Ironing

Ode to Ironing by Pablo Neruda

Poetry is white:
it comes from the water wrapped in drops,
it wrinkles, and it piles up,
the skin of this planet must be stretched,
the sea of its whiteness must be ironed
and the hands go and go,
the sacred surfaces are smoothed
and that's the way things are made:
hands make the world each day,
fire joins steal,
linen, canvas and cotton arrive
from the laundry combat
and from the light is born a dove:
chastity returns from the foam.

Top 10 Pics of Late Summer - Winter 2013

I'm the type that perpetually finds myself striving.
So, for me, the challenge often is to stay grounded
even as I consider take-off into a new year.

I want to write and blog more.
Change the blog--this is form 2009.

However, I have a tough time letting go.
Case in point: I never finished posting my summer 2013 pictures.
And the pictures are, well, really quite wonderful.

Here are my top 10...er, um, 16.

1. The summer and fall were a hit largely due to the service, kindness and love we all received from Marilin, our nanny, face painter, costume designer, baker, lifeguard, boo-boo kisser and beloved sister in Christ.

2. This picture-haha! That's my graduation--I mean, Lu's graduation from dog obedience. I thought it would be a good idea to have the kids come to watch her exam. What do you think?

3 - 7. Lake Michigan vacation, I love you...

Seriously beautiful....

8-11. Ten years ago I could not have imagined going to the Ohio State Fair.
If we don't go, we get complaints--for a year.
Sometimes when we do go complaints still abound.

12. First day of first grade
13. We heart snakes!

14. Look out, here comes Elle playing (during) soccer...

15. Marilin taught me how to make tamales.

16. Halloween

I left so many glances at the life contained in these walls out of this post.
But, you know, onward and upward.
More to come soon, I hope.
